DIY Painted Joy Jar & Gratitude Tags

Grab your supplies and make a painted Joy Jar to fill with hand-written gratitude notes, affirmations, Bible verses, or gratitude journal prompts. Makes a thoughtful gift too!

Supplies:

  • clean clear jar

  • rubbing alcohol

  • acrylic paints

  • paint brushes

  • acrylic paint markers

  • colored cardstock

  • scissors

  • hole punch

  • ribbon

Directions:

1. Wipe the jar with rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad.

2. Paint the outside of the jar with acrylic paints in whatever colors and style you like.

3. Allow painted jar to dry. While you wait, make your gratitude tags by cutting strips of paper to fit inside your Joy Jar. (Tip: If your jar has a lid, measure the height of your jar and cut your paper strips an inch shorter, so they fit neatly inside.)

4. Punch holes in one end of each strip of paper.

5. Cut a ribbon for each paper gratitude tag, about 6-inches long, and tie onto the end through the hole you punched in the tag.

6. Fill out your gratitude tags with quotes, lists of things you’re thankful for, journaling prompts, or leave blank to fill out and add to your Joy Jar as part of your daily gratitude practice.

7. Once your jar is dry, add finishing touches with acrylic markers.

8. Enjoy your finished creation or gift to a friend!
